Description: Simpson's Diversity (SIDIV) - equal to "minus the sum, across all patch types, of the proportional abuncance of patch type squared. Simpson's index is less sensitive to the presence of rare types [of land use/cover patches]. Simpson's index represents the probability that any two pixels selected at random would be different patch types. Indexes calculated for NLCD 2006 forest, shrubland, herbaceous, and wetland classes within NHD HUC 12 watersheds.
